I created this little critter for my last render but he was mostly in the background. I'm working on a new scene where he will be featured, maybe with a few friends. If anyone feels up to it, I'd love to get some feedback. He's intended to be somewhat a cross between an amoeba and a biped.
Cool design! But maybe u can add a non-human body part. Then it gets more original, i think. but it looks very real. the fingers can be some more detailled, but the eyes are very detailled. maybe you can bring some balance between those things. you have chose the position very good. The title is not SO original, maybe you can put the word eyes in the title, example: Second eyed biped (or something like that). maybe you can make the picture more interesting by turning the shadow, because the background is a little bit monotone. But you can also change the colour of the background
I'm not sure if amoeba is the first thing that comes to mind. The design isn't what stands out to me here, but you did model it well. Especially the midsection, it's very organic and natural looking. I imagine the limbs and eyes would look more impressive if he were rigged and posed.
I do, however, LOVE his materials. It's fleshy and creepy but beautiful and mesmerizing at the same time, especially in the lighting you've put him under. I love the teal highlights on the flesh tone, and the appearance of subsurface scattering. Is there actual SSS going on here? It might just be a trick of the lighting, but a good one. Last thought would be that the body materials look so good that the eyes look a bit flat in comparison.
Sorry if that was nitpicky! You said you wanted thoughts, though. Just trying to be helpful!
Actually the majority of the work I did on this was with the materials, so I'm happy you noticed that I did use true SSS, and I spent hours on it lol The lighting really only comes into play because I purposely used a light in back so the SSS effects would show up. I'll play some more with the eyes. Thanks for the great feedback, you rock!
